Be Disciples of God’s Word
God’s Word is our authority for daily life individually and in community.
Matthew 28:19-20: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
2 Timothy 3:16: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
Acts 2:42: They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
James 1:23-25: Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.
Reaching the Unchurched
People matter to God – and so they matter to us! We’ll take whatever steps necessary to tell them about Jesus.
Luke 19:10: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Matthew 18:14: So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.
Luke 5:30-32: But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
Be Relevant to Culture
We will be creative, fresh, and authentic while being Bible-based.
1 Chronicles 12:32: …men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do…
1 Corinthians 9:19-23: For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. 20To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
Serve the Community
We seek to extend the Kingdom of Jesus through acts of mercy.
Philippians 2:4-7: Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, 6who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
Matthew 5:16: In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
Ephesians 6:7: Rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man.
Titus 3:14: And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.
Foster Godly Relationships
We are all in this together – no one walks alone!
John 13:34-35: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Psalm 133:1: Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!
Hebrews 10:24-25: And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
1 Thessalonians 5:14: And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
