Being the Hands and Feet of Jesus

Every summer Journey of Faith joins together and organizes an Extreme Home Makeover. Over the course of 3 days close to 70 volunteers unite to paint, refresh, update, make repairs, and makeover one family’s home. Our goal? To make a difference by sharing the love of Jesus, to the be the hands and feet of Jesus to our community.

This year’s family are the Karel’s: Terri and her daughters Kelli and Kaitlyn. Terri is described as a warmhearted individual who spends much of her personal time serving the church. She is a “church mom” who often shows love to others without family by inviting them to holidays and family dinners. Terri puts others first and often neglects her own needs. Unfortunately, after the passing of her husband, Evan, a few years back she has struggled with medical bills and regular expenses and the resources needed for home upkeep haven’t always been available.

The Extreme Home Makeover is an opportunity for us to encourage and uplift the Karel’s and to give them a fresh start. It’s a powerful weekend for all those involved! Whether you are a master carpenter, a skilled plumber, a landscaping genius, or you just have the willingness to help; there is something for everyone to do.

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 4:10-11

July 30-August 2nd we’re putting our faith into action, using the gifts God has given us, to make a difference in the lives of one family. There’s still time to sign up!
