Jesus Said What?!

Everyone has their own take on how the world should work. Even Jesus. Far from passive and lacking an opinion, Jesus offered clear – and in some cases – controversial takes on practical topics, insisting that those following after him turn a critical eye toward their everyday activities.

March 20 – Lust, Longing, and Looking for Love

  • Lust, Longing, and Looking for Love

Love and sexuality are powerful forces, but we don't always know how we should handle that power. Jesus has some surprising words to say about this topic and how we're to treat this gift from God.

  • Handouts and Helping Others

What do you do when you're confronted with the needs of others - and more importantly, why do you do what you do?

  • Anxiety and Obsessiveness

Humans are anxious and worrisome creatures. We easily get distracted and obsess over things that are out of our control. But since we're going to obsess over something anyway, we might as well focus on something that matters!

  • Opinions, Eye-Rolls, and Judging Others

One of the most often quoted sayings of Jesus is "Judge not, that you not be judged." (Matthew 7:1) The problem is, it's also one of the most misquoted and misrepresented verses too! Jesus has a lot to say about judging others, including the fact that it's a necessary part of life and love within the family of God.

  • Enemies, Haters, and Getting Even

Jesus has a lot to say about anger - a topic that hits us all in different ways. Jesus' teaching on anger is surprising because of how extreme and impossible it is, even though it helps us understand just how much God loves us.
